Aggie Bowlers Win MEAC Southern Division

Back in October, the North Carolina A&T bowling team was picked to finish first in the MEAC southern division preseason poll. On Sunday the team saw that prediction realized as it posted another perfect day on the lanes to capture the divisional title at Galimore Lanes on the campus of Florida A&M.

The accomplishment serves as a testament to the hard work that 10th-ranked A&T has put in during its historic 2014-15 season. The divisional title marks the first time since the 2005-06 season that the Aggies have won the southern division.

The Aggies (62-33 overall, 20-4 MEAC) went undefeated during the final MEAC meet. After going 4-0 in Saturday’s traditional team games, A&T topped FAMU 958-836, No. 18 Norfolk State 996-888, N.C. Central 976-828, and Bethune-Cookman 1,059-909 in Sunday’s baker games. The Aggies finished the meet with a total pinfall of 8,238 and averaged 206.0 throughout their games.

“We completed a milestone today on our journey,” head coach James Williams said. “We will enjoy this moment but we need to get back on the road because the journey is not complete.

“I’ve seen tremendous growth in the young ladies over the last few months. I’m extremely proud of their accomplishment, and I’m happy they accomplished the first milestone in their journey.”

The Aggies have one more milestone in the conference to accomplish. On March 20-22. they will compete in the MEAC tournament in Chesapeake, Va.
